Home Project
For our latest assignment we had to take pictures that represented home to us. I found this to be extremely difficult as i have always found home to be a state mind rather than a physical representation. I decided to combine elements of my new home in Lincoln and elements of old home in Hull. For me home is a sense of mind where you feel happiest and most comfortable. a place which allows you to feel happy and upset at the same time, where you are allowed to be at your most vulnerable and comfortable.
I took primary inspiration from Paul Seanwright who took photo’s of forests in dark lights to give a theme of fear. One of my main reasons for visiting my home in Hull is to visit my Dad who passed away two years ago. a feeling that is similar to home for me is when i reflect upon my childhood memories of spending large amounts of time in the Yorkshire forests with my dad. I find when i visit the more rural areas of Lincoln i feel more comfortable. The various images above are of a rural area in Lincoln that reminds me of some of the woodland near home.
Below are some examples of Paul Seanwright
My images of the forest are much lighter than Paul Seanwright’s as the intention of seanwright was to create an environment that is unpleasant and intimidating. My images of the forest are much more light giving a warm tone to make the environment seem more inviting.
